Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills, staining) in one go without the need to switch out devices. They also can save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean and complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly app that lets you pick the exact kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
You could, for instance ask the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation tech are excellent too, with the robot being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. The only problem is that it tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However looking at the history of cleaning in the app will show you exactly what the robot completed, where it's going, and which obstacles he has run into or avoided.
A large LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance tasks need to be done including emptying the debris tray and cleaning the dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank automatically by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive, allowing you to look at all the details of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. It's not like the model from last year it comes with a double agitator in its mopping pad, which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may miss.
The Roborock model, like the other two models I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it get around obstacles like walls, furniture, and other obstacles. But best robot cleaner takes things a step further by having a dual camera that can recognize objects and determine whether they are a wall or another type of surface. It can then change its direction automatically and clean around them without missing a step.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek and angular design is eye catching and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which resumes the cleaning, a mop button that doubles up as a child-lock and a home button to take the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. best automatic vacuum can replace the mopping cloth when required, but it's a challenge to take the mount off for washing manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of clever features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can set up and manage these through the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, track the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll need to jump through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering the performance otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with its innovative features, top suction power and cutting-edge mowing capabilities. Its innovative design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while reducing time.
The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best options available. This powerful vacuum can clean up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry debris. It comes with a mop of excellent quality that can clean hard floors without using a pad. In addition, the X40 is extremely quiet during it's operation, producing only occasional bursts of noise when switching between modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.
Another standout characteristic is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush, which lets it get into difficult-to-access corners and clean furniture, such as tables and chairs' legs. It also lets the robot to reach under furniture that is low-profile which makes it a great choice for small apartments and condominiums with small spaces. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a great feature that enables the X40 to avoid damaging floors by excessive back-and forth movements.
In contrast to other robots that solely focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or separately. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas or vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or via Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are a breeze to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, change modes, view maps and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress and notify you when it's done.
The X40 is easy to clean and has many convenient features, making it an ideal option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It can also detect when the mop pad is full and notify you when it overflows, thus reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It has a number of characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to scrub floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles - in addition to removing spills and wet spots.
The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This is an excellent feature as it stops the growth of odours and mould in storage, and it also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuum and mop models and could be a useful method of keeping your home cleaner for longer.
There's a wealth of options available, including the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a variety of preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and provides a number of options to customize your cleaning routine. It also has several functions that are not available on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.
The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It's heavier than the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at around 4kg but it's not too heavy, and it feels robust and well built. The mopping system is also well designed, and the double rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. They can even extend to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice touch.
