1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). Highly recommended Site mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
